of putting imperial as well as metric measurements on the shop descriptions? I have just been looking at one of the lovely jigsaws, and its size is 400mm x
600mm - because my year at school was the last to do only imperial (the next few years did both, then after that just metric) I can't visualise roughly how
big that is. I think it was instilled in me when I was young enough and I just have to keep getting out a ruler or tape measure! Sorry to be so pathetic but it
would make such a difference!

Knock off the last 0 (nought) 400mm becomes 40cm (10cms = 4inch). Therefore 40cms = 16inches. (divide by 10 and multiply by 4).

400 mm x 600 mm is 16 in x 24 in.

Ooooooh that's a nice easy way of doing it. I've just lived with a tape measure for years! lol. I got the ounces vs.gramms
things sorted out when my mum told me that 100g is roughly 4 ounces (enough to check stuff if not for actualy cooking) Now I can be knowledgable about length
too ooooooOOOooooooooooh!

Never too old to learn, thats just educated me too,mm and gramms. Thanks for that, now my problem will be sleeping on it and still remembering. And I used to
have such a photographic memory, them were the days. Ali x

That is clever Sheila. I learnt both but think in imperial and always have to check the ruler to convert to/from metric!
