Posts: 553 (01/07/2008 14:19:14) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts Report Post	Tags : None I went to have a sprot around my local garden centre yesterday afternoon after being to the dentist, this shop has always been my favourite as it has always sold lots of craft goodies. Oh my gosh....hardly any choice at all... "Gutted" Loads of things for knitters, cross stitchers, model makers, painters and children, but all the card making bits were shoved in the far corner out of sight. Found it even difficult to get border peeloffs over the past few days -- my local outlet where they had ralis of them had very very few sheets?? Are we all going to be redundant??? Is it the credit squeeze? David

I did buy some twinkling h2O's a flower stamp and some embellishments, but wanted other simple things that had just disappeared. They did have a lot of flowersoft goodies but if they stop doing the basics no-one is going to bother even going to have a look and that means even more goodies not being re-ordered. Blast this credit crunch. Spoiling everyones fun.

I think all the market traders are suffering, there are hardly any people in there when I go in. Margaret x

I also do scrapbooking too & sometimes find it difficult to find really nice things to incorporate into my pages - perhaps I was spoilt when I was in Australia as it's so big over there. Maybe it's a general cost cutting thing in these difficult times in the UK that craft shops are cutting back on what they stock. Thank goodness for online shopping - thats what I say ! Sheila

I do craft markets, and whereas a year ago the venues were always filled with card stalls there are now only one or two. I have also noticed that there are fewer card making sellerss at craft exhibitions, but loads more scrap-booking and knitting vendors. iI hardly sell any cards now, so I am trying to think of other things to make.

Maybe they couldn't get it right, or maybe they had no buyers. But MAYBE what is happening is that you clever ladies out there. sorry and gentlemen will stay on the right road and keep on creating beautiful cards that everyone admires. loves and BUYS. Love Jen.

Funnily enough the car remembered it's way to the craft shop. It was empty and we spent a pleasant hour or so chatting to the owner who we have got to know quite well over the past few years (now I wonder why that would be). He said he had been run off his feet this morning but thought Wimbledon was the reason he was quiet this afternoon. The same pattern emerged last week. He said he was as busy as ever and ticking over nicely. He specialises in purely papercraft. He does mail order and internet as well so he covers all kinds of crafters. He is in a barn in the sticks that unless you know he's there you wouldn't find so relies on loyal customers and word of mouth. I think that stands for a lot these days. People like to know they are getting value and good service - oooo that sounds just like Joanna's website... Hugs Marion W

That may be one of the reasons why the craft shops are not stocking so much. My little local shop was the subject of an arson attack and was totally destroyed and the owner has now found new premises but she had a lot of problems getting insurance. I haen't been to the range lately but they never have much in stock. It looks as if we will have to shop on line. Happy Crafting XX Chris

So maybe its just swings and roundabouts
