I have the starlings here everyday making that noise almost constantly in fact I would miss it if it went quiet. They are out in the garden now squabbling
over 1 fat ball I will have to go out and put some more in the holder, they get through 4 a day plus the seed, not cheep (get it.. lol).
Love the photos Jak Lorraine x |

I buy the big fat cakes, like large candles. I have a cage that I put them in, because otherwise, the starlings won't let any of the smaller birds near
them. I also do the same with nuts, although I do have nut and seed holders out in the open where any birds are free to help themselves. I also feed sunflower
hearts, and black sunflower seeds too.
You're right, the 'tuppence a bag' is a long time ago, I buy the big bags of food and I am always amazed how quickly they get emptied. They eat better than I do! Jak, I've just noticed, you posted 60 years ago!! Doesn't time fly when we're having fun?? Paula x |

Strange that this subject should come up just now, I was only remarking to my son yesterday, that all of a sudden we have very few birds coming to feed. A week
ago it was a different story. Like yours, there was nearly a riot everytime new food was put out! The fussy b!!!!rs here dont think much to seed either!!I
Suppose they have enough food in the hedgerows, and also a lot of fruit is ripening now, so I am assuming this is why we are not seeing so many at the moment.
Seems odd how dramatically quickly this has happened though. S. xx

Great birdie piccies. Our feeders are outside the bedroom window so we have a cup of coffee in bed every morning and watch them. Sorry if that irks all you
lovely people who have to go work every day but it's one of the benefits of being retired.
Have sent you a pm Jak. Beryl xx |
