Well I survived
We took MIL to Whipsnade zoo on Saturday - sadly they didn't keep her
It was a very hot day and despite having suncream, my sore burnt bits (chest mainly) got a bit more burnt! I kept my shoulders covered, so that wasn't too bad. We left the zoo when it closed at 6 pm and called into M&S on the way home to buy their meal for 2 deal for Sunday's dinner. By the time we had dropped MIL off and got home it was almost 9 pm and rather than find something to eat, we went out to our favourite Chinese restaurant - boy did I sleep well that night!
Sunday morning (MIL's birthday) we got a couple of things done around the house and went off by midday to collect her and take her to a garden centre where we had promised her £40 worth of plants of her choice - she adores gardening so this was a perfect present. We wandered around behind her while she was fussing around and naming all the plants etc - then I spotted a gorgeous bush type plant - no idea what it was but it was all glossy and pretty. I picked it up and said it was so nice (thinking I would get that for myself - there was only the one) and she stopped looking at the plants and came over, said yes it was gorgeous and she would have that instead of the one she was looking at - doh! lost out on that one!
Aidan went to pay for her plants while we wandered some more and she saw a pack of six plants she liked and said she would get those herself after we had gone for our cup of tea. I then saw the most gorgeous geranium in a stunning deep bright pink. I picked it up (again just the one) saying wow this was amazing. She agreed and said how gorgeous it was (see where we are going here?) I went over picked up her pack of six plants and said I was getting the geranium and I would get her the six plants. She said "I tell you what - as you like the geranium I will give you a cutting from it" Doh again! So two plants I was going to get and I came home with none! That will teach me not to spell it out - it was for me!!!!!
We went and had a cream tea, then a look round the farm there before going back to her place hot and tired. I showed her our family tree on ancestry then we escaped! phew! - I thnk she enjoyed her birthday though
