Some of you will have seen in the "I have become a moaning minnie" thread that I have been having neighbour problems, now I think I know why the woman laid into me on Saturday. She is leaving! I was chatting to another neighbour (not next door) who has known me for about 25 years, way before I came here to live in this house (and someone who doesn't consider me to be a miserable woman) and she told me that the house next to me was advertised in the newspaper on Friday. The next door neighbours separated a while ago and I am assuming that the husband is forcing the sale which would account for why this woman was so ratty with me, she will be having to move somewhere smaller.
Now the next few weeks/months could be interesting. A few years ago they built an extension on both sides of the house and before building to it the man said that they would be paying for my deeds to be amended then once the extension had been built he said they were not paying after all as it would cost thousands, the deeds currently say that I have access from their property to maintain my house, and they in turn have access to be able to maintain their garage from my property. Ah, but they have moved their garage to the far side of their house and next to my house is their kitchen/family room and there is nothing in the deeds to give access to maintain that. Now will prospective purchasers want to buy a property which doesn't have updated deeds?
To have the deeds changed would involve my ex-husand being involved as he is in joint ownership with me, I don't particularly want contact with him at the moment as I understand that he is now separated from his wife and he might decide that at the same time to ask me to size down so that he can have some money back. Actually I don't know how to contact my ex anyway, he has gone ex-directory and I don't know whether his wife would pass any mail to him anyway. To change deeds here means not only several sessions with lawyers but also a visit to Court, so quite a hassle. Since there is nothing adversely affecting my property then I don't think that I will be inclined to have them changed.
Revenge can be sweet.
